Meet the Team

Taylor Dugan Barkman (Owner, Head Trainer)

Taylor discovered her passion for animals at a young age, thanks to her grandparents' Labrador retrievers: Jake, Dutch, Bailey, and later, KC.Over the years, she explored various animal-related paths, including working in veterinary offices, grooming, kennel jobs, animal shelters, and doggie daycares. Her true calling as a dog trainer emerged when she welcomed her cattle dog, Hero, into her life.

Through an internship where she handled Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, and Labradors for obedience training, detection training, and service work, Taylor gained valuable insights into the do’s and don'ts of dog training. She then worked as an assistant trainer for that company, teaching group classes, training board-and-train dogs, and conducting private lessons focused on obedience training and behavioral modifications. Taylor also participated in various classes and seminars, receiving guidance from experienced trainers along the way. As the head trainer at a labrador breeding and training kennel, she was involved in whelping Labrador puppies, raising them, and developing a service dog training program.

When she’s not training dogs at Taylor’d K9 Training, you can find Taylor enjoying the great outdoors with her dogs and a good snuggle on the couch with her wife, pups, and cat is the best way to end any day.

Kayla also discovered her passion for animals at a young age. When she was a child her father and his best friend began training dogs together, teaching group classes and conducting private lessons. Kayla grew up watching the dedication and passion they had for dog training and wanted to be right there in the middle of it all, especially the protection work. As she grew up and became able, Kayla began to help with their business till college.

After college Kayla took on assisting at a local kennel where she handled many working dogs. Mainly German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds. She learned about detection work and assisted training dogs for detection, protection and obedience. Also joining a K9 Search and Rescue Team, focusing on being a cadaver K9 Handler.

Today, Kayla is training her Belgian Malinois Kimber to compete in PSA. She is also learning to decoy, as her passion for protection work is still just as strong. Kayla enjoys spending time with her wife taking all of their dogs, Oats, Lisse, Zara, Hero, Fiesta and Kimber swimming and dock diving as well as always working on their obedience.

Madison Case (Pet Supplies Store and TK9T Dog Handler)

Ever since she can remember, Maddy has had a passion for animals. Growing up on a rural farm in Berne, she tended to many farm animals like chickens, goats, and cows—pretty much everything! Her first dog was a Redtick coonhound named Lucy, who she adored. Maddy quickly realized why dogs are a girl’s best friend and pursued a career in animal care, becoming one of the top staff members at a farm sanctuary near Catskill, NY. Although the sanctuary sadly had to close due to lack of funding, Maddy is determined to continue helping, loving, and caring for pets in any way she can. “That’s why I chose Taylor’d K9 Training!”
